August 17, 2010 - The California Highway Patrol reported that four people suffered personal injuries in a car accident that occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. on August 15. According to CHP officials, a Nissan Altima was involved in a single-vehicle accident on Highway 1 north of Stewart's Point in Sonoma County. Two women, ages 39 and 59, and two men, a 35-year-old and a 39-year-old, were injured in the accident. All four occupants of the Nissan were from Point Arena. The CHP requested air rescue due to the remote location of the accident and the possibility that the victims may have sustained internal injuries. Three of the victims were transported to a hospital via helicopter. The fourth person was taken by ambulance. A hospital representative said three of the injured were discharged from the hospital on the same day as the crash. One person was still in the hospital and listed in fair condition as of yesterday. Those who assisted in the rescue efforts were REACH, CALSTAR and Sonoma County Sheriff's air rescue personnel, Timber Cove and CAL FIRE firefighters and the California Highway Patrol.
