Drunken Driver Accidents
July 29, 2010 - A 27-year-old administrative assistant pleaded not guilty to charges arising out of an alleged
drunken driver accident that killed two and injured three others. The woman appeared in court on Wednesday to enter her plea. She spent two nights in jail after the July 18
motor vehicle accident before posting bond for $100,000 bail. Posecutors sought to increase her bail to $260,000 on Wednesday, but compromised on $200,000. The woman remains out of jail after posting the additional bail. As a condition of bail, the court ordered her to refrain from driving and from drinking. She will also be required to submit to random alcohol and drug testing and searches of her home and workplace. According to reports, in addition to the felony DUI charges, the woman faces enhanced sentencing for causing great bodily injury to victims over age 70. She faces 20 years in prison.
