Drunken Driver Accident - Highway 12
January 27, 2011 - According to the California Highway Patrol, a 29-year-old Santa Rosa man was arrested Tuesday night after his involvement in a car accident. The suspect was driving on a suspended licence when he apparently struck an Audi TT while attempting to pass it and then collided with another vehicle parked on the side of the road. The accident occurred just before 7:00 p.m. on Highway 12 west of Santa Rosa. Authorities said the man was wanted on two outstanding arrest warrants, is suspected of fleeing the scene of the accident and driving while intoxicated. After the collision, the suspect left his vehicle near Merced Avenue and ran into a nearby neighborhood. CHP officers were searching for him when a witness told them she saw the suspect in his yard. Officers found the man and arrested him on charges of leaving the scene of an accident, drunken driving and driving on a suspended license. The driver of the Audi TT sustained minor injuries according to law enforcement officials. Another victim was transported to a local hospital with injuries classified as minor to moderate. The suspect was taken to Sonoma County Jail and is being held without bail due to the outstanding warrants related to an earlier driving while intoxicated conviction and other offenses related to possession of a controlled substance and domestic violence.
