Car Accident - Drunk Driver Hits Tree

March 29, 2011 - The California Highway Patrol reported that a 24-year-old Santa Rosa man has been arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated after his involvement in a drunken driver accident. At approximately 9:40 p.m. on Friday, March 25, the suspect drove his vehicle off Highway 116 near Pocket Drive in Guerneville. He was driving a 1988 Toyota pickup truck at the time of the Friday night accident. The truck smashed into a tree after it went off the roadway causing serious injuries to his passenger. The passenger, a 36-year-old male, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. The injuries are considered to be life-threatening. The driver was also injured in the crash. He was treated and released and then arrested on suspicion of drunken driving. The suspect is being held at Sonoma County Jail. His immigration status is under review and he is also facing charges of driving without a license. Highway 116 was closed for about 30 minutes while the crash was being investigated.
